Welcome Baby Diego!

Diego arrived today!! It was a long labor with contractions starting at 8:30 pm yesterday and delivery today at 12:49. We came in to the hospital at 11 last night and I was having contractions all night but didn't progress past 6 cm even with contractions 5 min apart and a lot of walking. By morning my contractions had really slowed down but I was still very miserable. I waited extra time as my regular doctor was on call starting at 7:30 am. Once my doctor arrived we agreed that he needed to come out and going home at 6 cm with contractions wasn't a good option. So the decision was to break my water and hope things went more quickly. After breaking my water I walked and walked again trying to get things moving. After 2 hours I sat on a ball and then my labor really kicked in but I was still only 7 cm! Since I didn't know how much longer and I was in a lot of pain I got the epidural. And Diego was born less than an hour later with no complications.
Welcome to the world Diego Enrique Chavez! Born may 2nd at 12:49 pm weighing 7 lb 11 oz and 21 inches.
We are both doing great. I am exhausted as I still haven't slept but wanted to make sure I shared with you all.
Our family came to visit and brought Callie. She was a proud big sister wearing her special shirt and button and we read her new book.
She was excited to see me and share a shack in my hospital bed. Callie wanted to hold Diego but was also so excited she was way too rough and made him cry. She was very sad to go but we will be home as a complete family soon and she will have fun sleeping over at grandma bad grandpas house.
I'm so glad to be done and have a healthy baby boy in my arms. It was a long labor but it worked out great and I'm doing way better than I did with Callie already.
I snapped just a few photos on my iphone. The rest are on my camera and will have to wait.
Isn't he just darling? Juan and I couldn't be happier with our baby boy!
