Happy Halloween!

Who knew that Halloween was so much more fun with a 3 year old? The last few years were fun but seeing Callie really trick or treat this year was great. She was so excited it took her 2 hours to fall asleep for her nap time this afternoon! Luckily she did as she stayed up late. We walked the whole block! She got a lot of candy, more than we could ever need. Diego and Ford joined for just our street and then headed home. Jeana took all the real photos so I'll share later but here are some from my phone. Callie choose the costumes this year with Elsa being the obvious winner and she chose Olaf for Diego and Anna for me. I bought a child size costume and just pinned it on me. Callie gets to keep it and wear it that way and you already saw it at the last Halloween event we went to.
We had so much fun tonight but unfortunately despite picking through all Callies candy to make sure we remove all nuts and eggs she still ended up with hives covering her arms and legs that took two doses of Zyrtec to clear up. Poor kid. I don't even know what it could have been. She didn't let it put a damper on her night that's for sure. Smiles despite the hives :)

Sea World

Tia Mari and Tio Bo took Callie to SeaWorld today. She was excited to go and had so much fun. She came home tired but after dinner perked up and told me all about the things they saw and did. She insists that Shamu is not a whale and that her favorite show was pets rule. What a fun adventure for her today. Big thanks to Tio Bo and Tia Mari for taking on a special trip!

Ending my week on a positive note

It's been a rough week with the car issues, being at a new job and waiting on Callies test results. But today I ended my week on a much more positive note. I had a really good day at work and was able to see 2 kids and feel productive and like I was able to use my skills. I also got a call after I left a second message at the nephrologist. The results were in and her blood pressure when watched over the course of the day was actually within a normal range. The diagnosis is white coat hypertension meaning she just gets nervous at the doctors office and her blood pressure is much higher. It was such a relief. I really didn't need anymore to add to her list of issues and doctors appointments. I am so thankful and happy that the end result is she just has twice a year check ups in nephrology. So I was on a cloud, nothing could ruin my day not even Diegos meltdown at dinner when he was overtired (he fell asleep in the car on the way home and looked like an angel) or Callies meltdown at bedtime because she didn't take a nap. Nope, these things aren't going to bother me today because I have my car back, my job is showing me I love what I do and my daughter is healthy. :)

New job new car

Well as newtons law happens just when I think I have everything settled to start my new job things go awry. Monday my car started acting up and the engine light was on. I brought it in and of course they had a heck of a time determining the actual problem.... So alas I still don't have my car back. I ended up with a rental paid for by the dealership at least so I could make it to my first day at work. BUT on my way to work the car starts singing at me like crazy saying I have low tire pressure! Are! So after work I brought it back and traded for a new rental. My car will hopefully be fixed tomorrow after a really expensive fix. Only my kids were excited about the two rental cars they got to ride in. Me on the other hand, no amused. Hopefully things start going more according to plan...

Daddy's birthday party

With everyone's schedules we never got a chance to get everyone together to celebrate Juans birthday. So tonight, better late than never, we celebrated. The kids danced and played and lived it up. I'd say it was a success. I tried to get some good photos with all the kids together but they sure don't cooperate. This is the best I got.

Zoo with two

I randomly decided to brave the zoo with two kids. Just me and the two little ones and were arrived when the zoo opened. It's the best time still cool out and all the animals are out. Callie saw the cheetah first thing since it's her favorite and we wandered pretty far to see even the panda. Callie wanted to ride the skyfari the most and so we did even though there was a long line. D had so much fun he fell asleep from the entrance to the car and we had a front row parking spot!

24 hours over

I spent the past 24 hrs spending every minute with Callie to complete a 24 hr ambulatory blood pressure measurement. She wore a cuff attached to a tiny machine that takes her blood pressure every 20 minutes and records it in the memory of the device. I tried to make it fun but let me tell you it wasn't, for either of us. It started fun but quickly wore off when she couldn't remove it, it was hot sweaty, hurt, disgusting, you name it she complained about it. We got barely any sleep all night and that just made her grouchier. We went to the movies to distract her, visited my work for my going away breakfast and shopped at the toy store. It's done and now we wait to hear back. I couldn't have done it without Grandmas help keeping Diego extra long hours since there was no way I could have managed both. Once we dropped it off and we're done we went to Grandmas and ended the day with riding bikes down a hill. What's more fun than that?? And check out Diego all by himself! Little dare devil.

Spooky Pumpkin

Yesterday I was so tired I went to bed at 8:30 and didn't post any photos. These two kids wear me out. We trailed a new hairdo for Callie with a headband braid and it turned out pretty good! We went out to brunch with Grandma and NaNa and even carved a pumpkin. Callie chose the pattern from the book for the spooky skull. I tried to talk her into a butterfly but she insisted on spooky skull. So a skull pumpkin we have.... I tried to get a photo with both kids and the pumpkin. Just like last year it failed. Last year because Diego couldn't sit well by himself and this year because he walks away. Maybe next year I'll get both of them together.

Halloween festival

My friend Doris invited us to this amazing church Halloween festival tonight. It was perfect! Just enough activities, easy enough for young kids, not too scary but full of fun!
The kids had the best time. Callie dressed up as Anna so it was different than her Halloween costume. To keep Diego comfy I dressed him in his iron man tshirt and red shorts. Sadly I didn't get a good photo of D even though he was having a blast. Callie, Dimitri, and Isla were in the parade, played every game including eating gummy worms out of whip cream piles, and even played on the playground.
Callie just adores Dimitri, can you see how she holds his hand in these photos? Like she will never let him go. I promise to make sure we still see them as often as we do even when Kristen and I don't work in the same office.
Diego "won" a spider ring and he kept showing it to people and saying spider. I should have taken a video because it was unbelievable. Everyone was so impressed with him and he was such a ham. He stood in the middle of everyone during the pumpkin seed spitting competition and cheered and clapped like crazy.
We had such a good time. The kids were exhausted and went right to bed when we got home. Napping was a mess today with no nap for Callie and only a very early morning nap for D but both kids did a great job and held it together at the festival.
