Pro haircut

I took Diego to get his hair cut today at a real kids salon since it's his birthday weekend I didn't want any mommy mishaps. However after watching her cut his hair in under 10 minutes I am more confident than ever I can do it at home. Anyways, he did relatively good. He didn't mind the clippers too much and he didn't cry until I had to hold him very still to cut around his ears and the back of his neck. I didn't even get a photo of the finished cut... You'll have to wait and see.
Callie notices everything these days and there was a smoothie place next door so we splurged on a smoothie after. Both kids loved the smoothie. Diego even drank out of a straw for the first time with some difficulty. He's learning though.

Tapping About

Today was tap night at Callies mommy and me dance class. Every week rotates between tap and ballet. Last tap class we weren't prepared and didn't bring her tap shoes, but this time we were ready! Her little friend also had her tap shoes on. They were too funny. Hearing their feet while they dance is just too cool and brings a lot of smiles and a lot of stomping. Callie tried running more than once and fell down right on her butt. She still is terrible about following any of the dance moves. She mostly just does her own thing. After class we stay and playing the playground with all the kids, which she might enjoy even more than dancing. Diego plays in the wood chips, he prefers the dance class where he crawls all around, dances with mommy and watches himself in the full wall mirror.

3 ft 3 years

Today we measured Callie on the bookshelf ruler side. She loves this. She is just over 3 feet tall at 3 years old. Since last year she only grew about 3" but it seems like so much more when I look at her compared to last year. Next week is her annual check up so her and Diego will be measured up together.

Callie draws

For Callie's birthday she received a magnetic white board and chalkboard combo. She loves pretending to teach, practice writing her name, and coloring on it. She has done some great art. Today she drew our whole family and it was the first real drawing I could see what all 4 of us were. I asked her to leave it and wait as I ran to get my phone but before I got back she erased it! And of course she wouldn't duplicate it. I took this video trying I get her to draw again. Still very cute but I'll try again to get her family photo drawing. Great gift!

New firsts for Callie

Callie had a lot of new firsts these last two days. I was so busy yesterday I never got around to posting it. I had a dentist appt and I brought cCallie with me. The dentist keeps encouraging me to bring her so she sees how it goes and won't be scared when it's her turn. He takes a quick look in her mouth but otherwise she doesn't have an actual cleaning. She colored him a picture before we went for his wall, we picked a tooth brushing doc mc stuffins one. Notice that she wrote her own name and has all the letters. This is the way I've seen her do so far. We have been practicing.
Of course Dr Jim hung it up on his wall and let Callie press the buttons for the auction and even press he button to take my X-rays. That was a good distraction actually because she had to leave the room for that anyways so letting her press the button is ingenious. She was watching everything and asking a ton of questions. Then she says I am going to work here when I get older. And she wanted to play pretend dentist at home afterwards. Successful dentist visit.
During the day I took her "window shopping" and bike trailing as PaPa Ed will be here soon and said she could go to the toy store and pick out something for her birthday. She has so many toys I am trying to push an active useful something, like a bike. She can pedal the tricycle but it just isn't fun to go further than down the street. It's too hard to pedal it farther. So she tried a bike for the first time and she can do it !!! I was so proud. She picked one she wants, it's Doc McStuffins. I tried to talk her into a gender neutral one so that D can have it after her but no such luck.

Then today she went to her first Padres baseball game with Juan, Christian and Jorge. She was so happy and hyped up when she got home. She had a blast even desire the cold and rainy weather. Next time we will aim for a day game.

Running around the block

Just before bedtime Callie and I took manny for a run around the block. She ran at least half way. Manny and I were out of breath trying to keep up! I haven't been out walking in the last two weeks. Part of it was that I was so busy with Callies party but maybe part of it was that it's just different without LT. He loved going walking and exploring. :( but I have to move on and go back to doing normal things. Manny had a good time and Callie too. Here she is walking her doggie.

Splash splash Diego's bath

Diego just loves the bath tub. He crawls all over the place, stands up, tries to walk and just splashes about. He splashes himself right in the eyes and it barely phases him.

And here is Callie's babies dressed in their new Jammie's ready for bed.

Happy 3rd Birthday Callie

As if Callie hadn't partied enough already we had a pizza party tonight to celebrate her actual birthday. She told everyone it was her birthday today, the mailman, school, her ballet class, the people at the pizza restaurant.... She was excited! She was trying to figure out how old she was and how to hold up three fingers. She was so excited about her birthday presents, specifically her baby highchair and her baseball set. I also surprised her with cloth baby diapers and custom fitted baby clothes I made from her old clothing. They turned out so cute! I'll have to take a photo of the clothes later but for now you can see one on her doll. She liked dressing her babies for bed and they are much more practical than the ones you buy.
She had a great day between dance class and her party and school gave her a special headband crown, a bracelet and ring. She sure felt special today!
She is going to have to adjust to her birthday being over! I can't believe she is already 3! She's getting so big!!! Happy birthday Callie we love you to the moon!

Baby Alive

Tonight I snuck Baby Alive out of Callies bed to sew her some new baby clothes. I actually only pinned the clothes tonight and I'll quickly sew them tomorrow for Callies bday. She just loves this thing so I hope she enjoys the new clothes and diapers just as much. Here she is with Baby Alive aka Vanesa although she occasionally calls her Shawna and various other names. I think we need to pin down just one name.

Callie's pirate party

Today we rested, recovered, and cleaned up from Callie's pirate bash. Everyone had such a great time. It was a whirlwind but Callie was thrilled with the whole day and had a great time. A huge thank you to our wonderful family who made this day come to fruitition and all our friends and family who came to celebrate. Amidst the cleanup Callie got to play in the jumper one last time which was a lot of fun with us adults in there with her. We also ate cake again! And Callie unpackaged all her presents from the day. I think the favorite toy was Baby Alive. She was thrilled with this drinking and peeing baby. I on the other hand think it's a big pain! We've gone through 10 diapers or more in the first day! Luckily I had some leftover tiny ones from when D outgrew them but even size 1 is too big. So my new genius plan is to sew up some fabric diapers.they will get wet, but it's just water, so then she can change her and let the others dry. So I took Callie to pick out some fabric for the diapers, she picked Olaf from frozen (there wasn't much selection, so it was really her only choice of anything cool). I am thrilled with all the clothing she got. Tons of comfy cute clothes for the spring summer and fall. Which means I won't have to buy her any clothes until winter comes.
So you must be dying to see the photos by now right? Ok ok, here they are:

I made this cake and it has no eggs! I was pretty proud of how well it turned out and of course Callie loved it!

This was super easy and cute, I would totally recommend this to anyone.

Callie pirate layout. I forgot to get a photo of the backyard with all the nice table decorations. You can see the table in the distance with the pirate map message in a bottle and blue and red tables. They were super cute.

This is the best family photo we got.... Yea, that good...

Arg Matey!

Callies pirate third birthday was today. I would say it was a big success! She had a great time and so did everyone else. The pirate themed turned out to be a hit with all the kids. I'm so exhausted from the day that I am not going through the hundred or so photos I took on my camera, but I won't leave you hanging. Here a few snapped by family and friends  to hold you over until tomorrow. Enjoy!
