Productive Day

I had an incredibly productive day for being home alone with the kids. Juan and all his family have left for Monterey for Mariahs big graduation party. I thought it was too much travel for the kids right before our cross country flight and I didn't have any vacation so it was too short to go. So we stayed home. Luckily for me they have been behaving :)
Callie woke up really late, I actually woke her at 7:15. D and I were up at 5:30 as usual. We had breakfast, I put away the dishes, dropped manny off at the vet, came home. At  nap time Callie and I made a cake from the recipe Grandma Kay sent us in the mail, and then homemade dog cookies for Manny since he was stuck at the vet. When Diego woke up I fed the kids lunch, drove back to pick up Manny (he has a skin infection but is fine), stopped for frozen yogurt as a treat. Once back at home I cut both kids hair, gave D a bath, played a bit. Then during nap time I made Callies baby a bunch more clothes as Callie wanted something to pack for her trip to CT. After nap time we went to Grandmas house to let out and feed Bella. Stayed and played a bit, then home for dinner (Callie ate all her veggies so she got to try her cake she baked) and playtime til bed. It felt very productive, I'm tired now!
The best part was that the kids were behaving all day! Let's hope tomorrow is more of the same. I think they missed me all week.

Fun outside

I got home from work very late again. When I arrived at Grandma and Grandpas house Callie and Diego were both having a great time. Diego was walking everywhere and even standing up from the floor without using furniture. He is finally really walking around. Of course when I bring him home he barely walks and I don't know if it's the slippery wood floors or what, but this week he's been with Grandma all day 3 days in a row and now he just walks everywhere! Grandma majic!
Callie was having a pretend wedding. She picked all the rose petals and was tossing them down the path as well as filling the wheelbarrow with petals.
It was nice to come home to two happy kids after an hour long battle with traffic on my way home. One more long day tomorrow, but we are getting closer to our vacation!

Train around the mall

Monday I also took the kids on their first trackless train ride around the MLK. They really enjoyed it :) saved the photos for today as it was mommys night out with the girls and I just got in at 9:30 pm from work!

Disney shopping spree

Callie received gift cards to the Disney store from Tia Nena. She had a lot of money and I took her and told her she could have anything she wanted! She picked out a doc McStuffins playset quickly. I showed her nearly everything in the store twice and tries to show her more things she might like. I couldn't convince her of anything besides the doc kit and a pair of sunglasses. She was so happy with that and didn't want anything else. So I didn't push I figure we can go back another day for a new shopping trip! Thanks Tia Nena for an awesome gift which was a fun adventure.

Happy Memorial Day

What a nice long 4 day weekend for me :) yesterday we visited my friend Kristen and Callie played with Dimitri for hours. They are the best playmates! They can play pretty independently, share well, and never fight. It's really quite incredible as she isn't this way with most of her other friends. We had a nice visit and great food. Here's a few shots of the kids riding their bikes together. I also got a photo of the ice cream store visit with baby Ava and Callie. So here's a glimpse of that.
And today we had a BBQ at Grandma and Grandpas where I ate way too much food because it was delicious. Diego climbed up and down the stairs a hundred times and he wore his new cowboy hat. He didn't even mind. He wore it for 30 minutes without ever trying to take it off. He's a true cowboy!
But now my long weekend comes to a close and I have some long days to work before our trip back to CT, so don't worry if I don't get posts up. We are fine just incredibly busy.

Manny's 11th birthday

I almost forgot it was Manny's birthday today but then I got an email from the vet which reminded me. So he didn't get anything special, but we did take him for a long walk, give him extra treats and Callie shared her pretzels at snack time. And we told him happy birthday a bunch of times. He's getting quite old at 11 years, but still doing pretty well.
Callie got some new shoes. We let her pick the, out and as much as I tried to talk her into anything else she was insistent on the purple sequin Sohoia the first ones. She really likes them and has been wearing them even in the house! I also took her to the Hello Kitty store and she picked out a travel toothbrush for our upcoming trip and a pair of Hello Kitty scissors. This kid loves to cut up paper.
We went down to Jorgitos new fro yo store in IB in the afternoon. It's really cute and right on the beach. I think they will do well and I am sure we will visit again. Callie got to see and hold baby Ava again. She was excited to see Ava and she is getting big fast.

Dance friends

Today was my last dance class with Callie. She still has one more class next week but I have to work so I'll miss it. Out of nowhere she decided she wanted to bring gifts to her new friends at dance. She chose to bring the rings and bracelet tha came in her Frozen friendship set GiJu got her. What a brilliant idea from a 3 year old! The girls loved it and the younger girl and Callie had a fun time playing on the playground even after class. It wasn't the most productive dance class and Callie didn't follow directions that often but it was still fun. Here's some final photos of the three girls in class holding hands and sashaying across the floor. So cute!

Park time

We had a nice Sunday, having brunch at Souplantation and going to the park. Callie packed up her baby in the morning, complete with diaper bag full of supplies, a baby backpack carrier and a mini pack of baby wipes she got as a sample at Costco. I think she makes a cute mommy :)

Bike riding at the bay

As Callie is getting better with her bike skills we took her over to the bay to the playground and flat sidewalks to ride her bike. We rode all the way down the pier which was pretty cool. And she really liked the Checkerboard table, pretty cute with her tiara helmet.
And since I left you hanging here's a photo of my new purse I sewed yesterday.

Rain rain stay all day

It rained hard all day and I loved it! We needed water plus it was a good excuse to wear sweatpants all day. Somehow the rain pushed me to start a sewing project I've been wanting to do for over 2 years!! I wanted to sew a leather bottomed bag for years. Callie must have been 9 months old when I bought the piece of leather for the bottom. Then I never did anything. I have never sewed leather before and wasn't sure I could even do it on my sewing machine. Well today I endeavered to see that bag I'd thought up years ago. Not only did I start, but I finished! The entire bag project is complete! I was too tired to take a photo tonight but I'll get one tomorrow.
While I took on a big project Callie sat and focused on building a 40 piece calling puzzle. I was impressed how much she has improved and she did most of it on her own. The sky and trees were a bit difficult and she needed some prompting to look for certain colors or items when finding pieces but overall she did most by herself. I was proud and so was she!

And Callie still helps put away the silverware. I need to come up with more chores... This one was a real winner that has carried on and on.

Grandpa time

Quality time with Grandpa this afternoon. Both kids of course want to play with him at the same time. Two little side kicks... Callie loves to play where she puts Grandpa in time out for being naughty. It's actually quite funny. Just wait to see what trouble Grandpa and these little ones get into in a few years if it's this much already ;)
