Happy Halloween 2016

It was a busy Halloween. We carved pumpkins with Papa Ed in the morning. Went to Callie's school for trick or treating around lunch time and then had the family over for trick or treating around our neighborhood. Literally we are the funniest bunch... 10 adults and 3 kids. The kids had a blast this year as they were all old enough to walk the whole block and carry their own candy. They knew what to do and were good at it this year. We made it around the full block although we didn't do all he houses. they still had a bucket full of candy.
PaPa Ed had to say goodbye tonight but we were so glad to have him and have him walk the block trick or treating tonight.

Pumpkin Patch

last night we went to the pumpkin patch. For all you east coast people I must forewarn you this is not what you are thinking... this pumpkin patch is rides and jumpy houses in a parking lot and a bunch of pumpkins on hay. Not nearly as good as rural east coast farm patches but it's what we have to work with close by.  The kids love it all the same.
And this weekend PaPa helped me replace my bathroom sink for something more modern and less bulky. He even had a little hinderer... eh I mean helper!

Beach Bonfire

It was quite last minute, we decided to go to the beach for dinner. I grabbed whatever I could find that could be cooked on the fire from the fridge and a bunch of cold snacks that didn't need to be cooked. It was too cold to go in the water but was nice enough to have our little fire for dinner and smores. We even stayed to play on the playground in the dark! Making memories with Papa Ed. :)

PaPa Ed has arrived

PaPa Ed is here! The kids are so excited. I'm no longer good enough to push the swing, read the sorry, or help with their shoes. Well that's just fine with me! So glad to have my dad here for Halloween weekend.
I also have some photos of the kids I took in their Halloween costumes from Monday. I somehow forgot to post these.

Make a wish!

Last weekend I snapped this photo of Callie and I and by sheer chance got Juana Dan Diego in the background! How's that for a family photo? I adore it!

Rainy pool day

yesterday was the hottest sunniest day in Halloween costumes. So today we thought we would head to the pool. Hmm no one checked the weather... cloudy and rainy? Who knew hay happened in San Diego. We still had fun even if it wasn't warm. We were already wet anyways!

More Halloween carnivals!

we love Halloween carnivals! Number 2 this year. Unfortunately it was 90 degrees and swealtering so it didn't feel like fall. We made the best of it. And tonight we did our walk around the block to see our neighbors awesome decorations.
Yes that's blue hair for Callie!

Picnic dinner and protein cookies!

its a tradition that when Juan is away we often have picnic dinner. Usually this means anything cold I don't cook. Juan is away for work this weekend and I had already cooked a hot meal when the kids declared they wanted picnic dinner. So instead of a cold dinner we just had a picnic with our dinner on the deck after we were done swimming. We followed up dinner with some yummy protein cookies I modified the recipe to make without eggs.
