LT cardiology Update

This morning I took LT to the cardiologist. He was supposed to be seen sooner but since he had been doing well sinceast May I just never brought him in. Last May the vet said lifespan was likely a year. Well here we are, nearly a year later and still chugging along. On his medications he is essentially asymptomatic and has been doing really well. Our regular vet strongly encouraged I take him back to cardiology to ensure he doesn't need any medication changes that might further expand his lifespan. I decided to switch to UCDavis cardiology on the recommendation if a coworker and I am sure glad I did! The vet was fabulous and spent nearly an hour with us. LT still has congestive heart failure, that won't ever change and his condition isn't getting any better but it only got minimally worse. The average lifespan for a boston terrier with this severe of heart failure is 18 months and he has made it a year. The vet says to aim for 6 months and then see how he is. We are waiting for bloodwork to come back to ensure the rest of his organs are holding up to all the drugs and stress from the heart. While sad, it's really the best I could have hoped for. I know the severity of his condition and am just glad that he seems to still be enjoying his life in our family. Callie loves him dearly and I can't imagine having to help her through losing him but I know it will come sooner than later.
On a less depressing note, I went to the dentist today and brought Callie again. She was fabulous and sat on my lap and wasn't scared at all for nearly an hour. She is so smart and able to really understand the concept of what's going on. In hopeful that in another year she will actually let them clean her teeth. Dr Jim have her 2 toothbrushes! One that lights up and has a duck and glitter inside and one that suction cups to the mirror. Can't get much cooler toothbrushes than that.
Since she was so good I took her to the mall playground on the way home. She didn't get to play much on the playground as there were a lot of bigger kids being too rough :( so we focused on playing on the ride on vehicles and getting toys out of the gum ball machines. She just loves collecting these little balls of junk.
And somehow this Giant Mickey in her bed has been a miracle at night. She slept all night without making a peep last night and then tonight went right to bed without calling my name since Mickey was in her bed. I think I owe Sean a big thank you!!!
