Callie's First Day of Preschool

Today was Callie's first day of preschool. We have been talking about it for awhile and thoroughly explaining how school works but I still wasn't sure how she would do. I knew she wouldn't cry all day but thought she might cry when I dropped her off. I made a big deal about how exciting it is to go to school and how much fun she was going to have. I dropped her off at 9 am. I told her I would be back to pick her up in a few hours before lunch. She gave me a kiss and said bye and walked off with her teacher Miss Vanessa to play. I quickly snuck out and left so she wouldn't then start on the mommy mommy. Juan was able to take lunch and pick her up with me. She was so excited when we got there yelling Mommy! Daddy! But she wasn't too excited to leave as she was still showing us the cars and books and talking up a storm. All the other kids were getting ready for lunch and she wanted to stay, which surprised me. I told her tomorrow we could stay for lunch. The teacher said she did cry for a few minutes but not until the middle of the day. They were outside playing in the sand and another little boy started crying so Callie just sat down and started crying. Miss Vanessa sat with her for a few minutes and she stopped crying and went back to playing. She brought one of her babies and carried her around all day which I am sure helped her feel more secure. Either way I am so impressed that she did so well on her first day! What a independent little girl :) she's getting so big so fast, almost 2 and going to school.
In themorning I tried to get some good photos before her first day but she didn't cooperate much because she was mad she couldn't hold the camera. I let her hold one for a bit which is why there is a camera in most of the photos.
She brought home her first artwork from school, a carrot painting made by her footprints. I figure we need a place to hang up all these masterpieces so I finally got around to putting up this leftover piece of sheet metal we had from making her play kitchen refrigerator. It can be written on with a dry erase marker and is magnetic! Can't beat that. I just need to go get some pretty trim so I can make it look more finished. Put that on next weeks to do list.
