The Gladue's at the Beach

The beach in November? Yep we headed to Coronado to see the beach for a bit before dinner. It was a warm day in the mid 70s in the sun. Callie doesn't get that it's too cold to swim and too cold to be in the water! We had to keep her out of the ocean. She hated the soft sand which was actually really funny. She did not want to touch it.
Callie is enjoying having GiJu and PaPa around. I have heard their names 100 times everyday but the amount of times I hear mama is down to about 5. I've been traded in for the weekend! She's having a great time with her family here. She's still learning to say Eddie and Heather.

Mommy at Disneyland

I am at Disneyland for two days for a conference. Disneyland is supposed to be the happiest place on earth.... But I am missing my baby. I had a hard time telling her yesterday that I was going to be gone for 2 days. Then today the moon came out and I immediately thought, oh I should be looking at the moon with Callie :( I called her before bed and luckily she was still very happy without me and she was done talking quickly and said bye. Believe it or not that is easier for me than her crying or asking for me. So I am thankful she is having fun at home. I miss the hugs and all the "mommy" and "moon" comments that I sometimes complain about hearing 100 times a day. So since I won't see that beautiful baby for 2 days, I got the pleasure of seeing this photo from Nicky's wedding for the first time! Look at this adorable kid being a good flower girl. Isn't she beautiful? Mommy is missing you and loves you from near or far!

Mommy's Tea

Callie is sometimes a strange kid. She loves tea... All kinds too. I drink unsweetened ice tea almost always instead of soda. Callie tried my drink starting really young and seemed to like it. I swear its just because its mommy's drink bc how can black unsweetened tea taste good to her? Today I had iced mandarin green tea and boy did she love that. She is standing on her tip toes to steal my glass and she says mommy tea. She cracks me up. I am glad this kid can still make me smile because I am so tired of being sick. I'm sure you are all tired of hearing me say it too. Two days in a row of puking and misery, yuck!
Callie got up at 4:54 since she so doesn't get daylight savings time then only took a 50 min napalm day. I took an almost 3 hr nap when I was really sick and I'm still tired!  I'm not sure who is more tired tonight me or Callie. She didn't make it until 7 pm for bed so we will have to sneak this hour in over a few days.

Baby Cousin Ford

Today we all went out to eat and to the ultrasound studio to find out the gender or Callie's first cousin! Jeana and Christian were dressed in their Ford t-shirts since that's the name they had chosen whether girl or boy. And.... It's a boy!!! Yippie! Callie was not so well behaved in the ultrasound part. It was almost embarrassing as she was distracting to the excitement of seeing their baby. Luckily they are all family and very understanding but jeez...
Congrats to Jeana and Christian on Baby Ford. We can't wait to meet him!

Only a week and a half until we find out Baby #2 gender.... It makes me nervous, eek!

Shower time

Today I napped while Callie napped which meant I didn't get any alone time for a shower. Usually I let her rampage my room while I shower but today she wanted to get in the shower too. So I figured why not? Well I learned its hard to enjoy your shower and you can't close your eyes while you rinse your hair and when you look down to see what trouble is brewing you might just get soap in your eye! She was actually pretty good but I did manage to get soap in my eye and my shower wasn't nearly as relaxing when shared with a toddler. She has a bad rash on her hip that just showed up this morning. I have no idea what it's from. We gave her Benadryl last night after candy as her face broke out but I guess it could still be from something she ate. I tried two different lotions and creams and washed it but no change. I also let her run around naked for  an hour after the shower today. It was the prefect day since it was nearly 85 degrees here! She didn't want to get dressed. i chased her down and she had her blanket giggling. So tonight I tried some more Benadryl and hoping tomorrow her rash gets better. I hope this photo captures the craziness of a naked toddler running around!

Happy Halloween from Dr Callie

I really didn't plan well for Halloween at all. I pretty much got on top of it today ON Halloween. I was feeling guilty that I didn't do anything when I usually go all out. So first we went to Target and bought some gummy bears and candy Callie can eat (in theory) to replace the ones she can't eat that people give out. I also bought a pumpkin to collect her candy in. Then when we got home I was convinced it would be a better costume if she was a doctor instead of a cheerleader. I mean how can you carry Pom Poms and collect candy? Plus she has been so into the stethoscope lately and I figured I could dress up with her as doctors.
So out of fabric I found already in the house I decided to make a toddler scrub set for her at 3:30 pm. Somehow I managed to sew a pretty good looking set without any pattern from scratch in about 45 minutes. I was actually impressed with myself! It was comfy and like clothes so Callie was happy and we just added the stethoscope. She was a very cute doctor.
I made the mistake of trying to take photos first and then she became obsessed with the camera and wouldn't let it go.
Eventually once she discovered the actual trick or treat part she was over the camera and enthralled with the candy people were giving out. Lucky for me she mostly got lollipops and tootsie rolls which are relatively safe. She ate half a tootsie roll including the wrapper as we were walking to the next house! I couldn't get it in time so now it will come out the other way... It's just wax paper at least.
She had a great time even though we only visited about 4 houses. We tried to get her to give out candy at our house but she wasn't too keen on that part. All in all a very successful Halloween and she was adorable! Happy Halloween everyone from Doctor Callie.

Practicing for Halloween

Yesterday afternoon we practiced dressing up for Halloween. We didn't use the actual costume but she has a whole box full of dress up clothes. She doesn't like the whole outfits much so we stuck to accessories and whatever she pulled out of the chest. Poor Manny is always tortured as she wants him to do everything with her including dress up. She tried to put the fireman hat on him but he didn't like it much as you could have predicted. Tomorrow is the big day and I'm not even ready! We haven't tried on the costume and we don't have any candy to give Callie. She will get candy from the neighbors but chances are with a kid who has as many food allergies as Callie she won't be able to eat anything she collects. I need to get some "trade" candy so when she gets something with nuts or wheat, pretty much every candy bar, we can swap her with something. I'm thinking gummy bears and lollipops? She has never had that but I think it should be safe, it's just sugar anyways... I better get shopping when I get out of work tomorrow as its going to be time so soon! Hopefully I get some good photos of her dressed up tomorrow. I still don't even know if I've decided between 2 outfits! Whichever works day of it is...
