Amos Lake

It was finally a warm day in CT. We took the kids to Amos Lake to swim. I've been coming to this lake "beach" since I just learned to swim and somewhere have photos of me and my friends swimming I this exact spot. The kids loved it. Diego wanted to be in the water every second. Callie and I swam out to the buoys and back. Papa Ed even caught a fish in the little kids nets. They played in the sand and had a great time with Gabriella.
Before the beach trip we made a quick outing to the organic farm to get milk and eggs and Callie got to see the cows, chickens and ducks. It wasn't as fun as the beach but a good distraction while we waited for D to wake up to go to the beach.
Tonight GiJ had both kids with Marge and Jon while we went to the casino with my uncles and grandparents. Nobody left a real winner but we sure had fun. I have more photos from Marge and Jons visit but not on my phone so I'll save those for tomorrow.

Busy day

Our day of nearly no plans got very busy quickly :) it was supposed to rain but held off all day and we squeezed in a LOT of fun.
In the morning I took the kids to catch up with my childhood friends and their kids. Nicole and Gabriella had is over to play and Callie and G had the best time together. They are a year apart but Gabriella can talk a lot so they played really well together. Diego also had company as Danielle came with her baby and her nephew. I haven't seen Danielle in about 10 years. We grew up together and were so close all through elementary school. It was great to catch up and get all the kids together.
Then after nap time we went to Barbara's house to see their new pony Buddy. He is so adorable! And now Callie is getting bigger she can actually ride. She didn't ride too long but had a good time anyways riding and feeding the horses. Barbara and Jerry are always so gracious to let us come and use their barn and horses. Diego wasn't too thrilled by riding the horse but he liked it enough to see them and touch them. He enjoyed the tractor much more.
In the afternoon GaGa and Ashley came for dinner and played some more all the way til bedtime. Callie had her first experience with sparklers and it was fun even though it wasn't that dark out yet. It was a busy day but we sure had fun!

Wedding photos and weekend

Today we met baby Johny friend Danielle's baby who is now 8 months old. My kids didn't behave too well so of course this photo turned out terrible... But it's proof we had them together!
Otherwise here's some photos from the weekend. Playing catch up...

Whirlwind in CT

Things have finally calmed down for our crazy vacation. After the first day here Callie got very sick. She suddenly was having trouble breathing with coughing and wheezing and was not well. We took her to the ER and she had breathing treatments that helped her right away and they sent her home with an inhaler since we didn't think to bring hers on vacation. However by the morning she hadn't slept more than 2 hrs all night and we rushed her back to the ER when she again was having even more trouble breathing with shortness of breath, inability to eat, vomiting and terrible wheezing. At this point she was really struggling and they took her straight from the waiting room check in desk to an area for immediate treatment by a doctor and team of 3 nurses. We had great support and care from all of them and we stayed for quite a few hours with three breathing treatments, steroids, allergy mess and a chest X-ray. It was very scary to see her like this but the ER was great in ensuring she received the best care. they believe this was all asthma related to a change in location and high allergen content in CT right now. she improved and we took her home for a nap but unfortunately returned for a third visit in 24 hours for additional wheezing despite inhaler use and all the meds. At this point they decided she could possibly also have pneumonia and had a fever so they also added an antibiotic since she was still struggling. We were supposed to leave for the wedding in PA but of course couldn't leave Callie. We stayed until she had improved enough that she was acting normal and left her just for Saturday and Sunday to drive to the wedding and return today. She did fine with GiJu and PaPa and is doing pretty well now. She still has three medications and an inhaler to take everyday but is overall ok. We will have to follow up with her allergist and pediatrician when we return home for a future plan but are thankful for the care we received quickly here when she needed it most.
Juan and Ihad a great time at the wedding and more photos to come but here's a few from the hospital (Callie wanted to show her dinosaur mask) and the wedding. Hopefully the rest of our trip is more relaxing and less eventful! I'll share more photos of Callie and Diegos fun while we were gone tomorrow.

We made it to CT

Yesterday was a very long and draining day after more than 12 hours of traveling with 2 kids that refused to sleep on the plane. It wasn't the worst it could have been but it sure wasn't fun or the best trip I've been on. But alas we made it! Callie was ready to play when we arrived at 1:30 am. It was difficult to get her to sleep and then she woke up early and played ALL day. GaGa, Ashley, grandma Kay, Great Pa and Uncle Eddie all came to visit. She dragged everyone to the basement to play at some point. She also  dug in the sand where the pool was taken down like a giant sand box and even had a huge pool with balls in it. It wasn't warm enough to go in the water but hopefully another day.
I'm exhausted so hopefully the kids sleep in and catch up a bit today after all the travel.

Time with Tia Mari

With everyone in the Chavez family in Monterey for Mariah's big graduation birthday bash I was left with two kids when I needed to work 10 hours! Luckily for me Tia Mari agreed to watch the kids all day. Thanks Tia! Just one day more of work until we are leaving on a jet plane :)
