Wild Animal Park

Today I took a day off of work and we took Callie to the Wild Animal Park. This was our first trip there with Callie despite that we have a zoo membership that includes the Safari Park as its now called. The problem is just that it is quite far compared to the zoo, 50 minutes vs 15 minutes usually means we just head to the zoo. Anyways, we left early to get there just after they opened and went straight to the Safari Tram, which we just called the train for Callie. We rode around and saw all the Africa animals without any wait. Callie thought 30 minutes was too long to ride around and sit still but it was still very cool. We saw rhinos, cheetahs, antelope, buffalo, and giraffes. We also went to the gorilla exhibit, played in the water park, went to the petting zoo and fed the ducks. We didn't see half of the park, but saw enough that Callie was exhausted when we left around 1 pm, which is way past her regular nap time. We stopped for frozen yogurt and then she fell asleep in the car on the way home. After nap time she had 2 more successful potty uses, one where she totally independently climbed over the dog gate and got to the potty to use it all by herself. I was impressed except I dont want her climbing over the dog gate! In the late afternoon we took her to Marshalls as I was on the search for something to wear to my baby shower this weekend. Callie found Doc McStuffins flip flops! Boy she was so excited we had to wear them throughout the store before we even bought them. She cried when we took them off at bedtime. Who would have known they would be so loved. We had a busy and fun day and for me it was 1000 times better than going to work. Tonight I am working hard on Diego's room again. Last night we built more furniture and tonight I am working on the wall art. It is all coming together so hopefully soon I will share some photo updates.

Afternoon at Rohr Park

I worked a half day today so in the afternoon we took Callie to Rohr Park. She insisted on bringing the dogs even though its a lot harder to have them to deal with too. Since I had GiJu I could manage dogs and a toddler so we went for it. We fed the birds, chased the birds, Callie ate the old bread we brought the birds. Then we went to the playground for awhile. We walked probably two miles back and forth from the duck pond to the playground. I think the biggest deal of the day was that Callie wore underpants to the park! This was her first outing in underwear. GiJu has been working with her at home on using the potty and she has been doing great, but we have never gone out of the house before. We tried to change her to a diaper before we left but she didn't want to go if we made her wear a diaper. So we packed a few changes of clothes just in case, made her use the potty before we left and even packed a potty in the trunk of the car to go with us. She did great! She was dry the whole time at the park. After feeding the birds we went back to the car, took out the potty and peed right in the parking lot. Then we played on the playground for an hour and still dry. I tried to get her to use the potty before the car ride home since she drank a lot of water, but she really didn't want to so I thought we could make it the 3 miles home. I thought wrong... But I was prepared and had her sitting in her car seat on one of my way proof changing pads I sewed when she was an infant. Dual duty :) so she had wet pants but we just threw it all in the wash and she still use the potty at home when we got there. I am so impressed! I think she may be pretty easy to potty train. We bought her some new undies that we say are just like mommy's and they do look a lot like mine, so I think that's helping. When she uses the potty she says "so proud you" because GiJu always says I am so proud of you, so it's pretty funny to see that. I wish I got a photo of her on the potty in the parking lot because it was quite a sight but I was too busy getting down to business!
Tonight we went out to Taco Tuesday in Old Town and came home to work on a few things for Diego's room.i fixed the ceiling fan by replacing the internal switch that goes to the pull cord and I sewed the curtains with GiJu's help. Every night I am exhausted and poor GiJu has been working so hard watching Callie all day and helping with Diego's room at night. I am oping we can have it complete before she leaves so I can feel done with it. I will show you some photos of the room once we have a bit more done. In the meantime, look at all the fun we had at the park!

Happy St Patricks Day

Callie got a st Patrick's day tiara from PaPa. How cute is she? Princess Callie she said.

Sunday Beach Day

Yesterday I was so tired I fell asleep on the couch without posting our beach photos! I can't share them all as some are for a special project I am still working on but I will share a few. It was a warm day but nice and breezy at the beach. Callie fell in the water face first which scared her a bit and slowed her down from running straight into the water. It was probably a good thing as she is usually fearless. She also finally sat in the sand and dug and built a castle. Sometimes she is so irritated by the sand she wants to be in the water or in her chair the entire time. This was the first time she would actually sit in the sand and play. We built castles and then she destroyed them for fun. I don't have a maternity bathing suit and was planning to keep my dress on but it was too tough with the water and sand and so I said oh well and just went for it. These will probably be the only bare belly photos you will ever see.

Lemon trees

Today was a busy day. In the morning we went to Hone Depot to get some new succulents for our front yard between the sidewalk and the street. Our yard is currently under major construction with a total overhaul and we decided not to put grass back in this area. After that we went to a fruit tree farm in Bonita to get a new lemon tree. Callie always wants to pick everyone else's fruit trees so I figured it was time to get one of our own. Since her a route thing is lemons in her water I picked lemon tree as what we were looking for. For days Callie kept talking about going to the farm for lemon tree. It was a maze of fruit trees at the place. We asked for help to can find the lemon trees. The nice guy who worked there let Callie pick fruit and showed her different trees. She ate kumquats, strawberry guava and some kind of mandarin orange. We also saw pluots and cherries but they weren't ready to eat yet. We also bought a Mexican line tree for Grandmas house and we dropped it off on the way home.
After nap time we watered our new plants that daddy had planted already then packed up and went to ikea... Again!
This time I needed a closet organizer, a small bookshelf, a rug and a lamp. I was quite successful and found it all!
We have been so busy having fun and working on Diego's room that I forgt to post anything for days... Oops.
We bought all the fabric for his quilt and have been working on his hand made mobile for the last two days. We also were painting canvases for his wall art. We have been busy!
Hopefully before GiJu leaves we will be all done with the nursery.
Tomorrow is going to be really hot and we are planning to just have fun and go to the beach :)

GiJu is coming!

Tomorrow GiJu arrives! Callie is so excited. We have been talking about it for a month and yet she couldn't comprehend the timeframe until today when I said tomorrow she will be here. If you ask her who is coming tomorrow she will excitedly shout GiJu!!! She also keeps saying PaPa no Rooo Spike because we told her PaPa couldn't come because he stayed home to take care of the dogs. She usually makes a dramatic sad face when she says this.
Tonight on the way home as she is tired and falling asleep she was talking to herself... GiJu coming GiJu plane plane GiJu morrow. It was so cute. Boy will she be thrilled when she gets here.

The stickers continue

Callie for some reason this week is so focused on putting stickers on people. Today she covered my feet with Sesame Street stickers and then covered my bare belly so Diego had some too. I only took photos of my feet and my bowling ball bare stomach isn't something I want to post for you all.
Besides that she was extra lovey to me and Diego today. While we waited for our tax appt she sat only lap and gave me a nosey and a kiss. Diego got one too :) what a loving sister.
