Happy birthday Jorge

Jorge came over to have birthday dinner and cake. Callie insisted he needed a real party with decorations. I took her to the dollar store and we bought crazy balloons a birthday banner and princess straws. She made him a cake and a birthday drawing and name keychain. She was so excited for him to come over and even Diego got in on the birthday excitement. Callie blew out his candle on the cake before we even finished the song. So much for letting the birthday boy make a wish. Hope you had a fabulous birthday as planned by a almost 4 year old Jorge!

Swinging as three

My kids want to go play on Fords new playground all the time. We went over yesterday to play and all three kids were swinging at the same time!

On a side note potty training is not going too well. He can hold it for 3 hours and tell you as soon as he pees or poops but he doesn't like to pee on the potty even when he has to go. Stubborn little one.

Masked crusaders

Hmm just saw this had an error in posting. Well better late than never!

Norma and Nena brought these amazing caped masks back from Mexico today. They are so cool and the kids are just running around like super heroes. Diego doesn't like the mask on his face but likes it on his head at least. Callie wears it full on with no problems. I also bought clearance chargers shirts today hence the matching shirts. They were playing tag and you can see how "gentle" Callie is when tagging Diego. Poor kid gets roughed up.

First attempt at potty training

Diego can tell us when he has peed or pooped immediately after and has had a few good successes using the potty. So on a rainy weekend I figured it's time to just go for it and see if I can get him potty trained. I know it's a little early but Callie did it at 2 and he shows a lot of signs he is ready. Today was the first day of all day underwear. I had a lot of laundry to do... We had about a 50% success rate. Hopefully tomorrow he does a bit better about getting to the potty before he needs to. He hates being wet and cries if he pees his pants right away. He loves the underpants but occasionally sits on the potty with them still on. I'll give it the weekend and see how successful he is before I make the final decision if this is the end of the diapers.

Deserved Fun

Callie has been having difficulty hearing for the past few months. I finally brought her to ENT after waiting for an appointment and calling to get in sooner. Turns out she has persistent fluid behind her ear which is likely what is making it difficult to hear. The doctor thinks she should get ear tubes to help relieve the build up and help her hear better. So today we scheduled her hearing test and will wait to schedule her surgery. It may sound scary but it's a simple surgery that I think will really help her.
Since we drove to a far away appointment and she dreads more doctors and procedures I promised some fun. We stopped by the wild animal park in the drizzly rain to see the butterflies before the exhibit closes and feed the birds. One bird even landed on my head. Then I took her out to dinner and to play at the indoor mall playground. She was so happy to have special fun time and was really good about being agreeable to more appointments for her ears. She's already making special plans for the next appointment she has to go to.

Counting cars and kissing Manny

Last night I spent 24 hours away from my kids out with friends who don't have kids. It was really nice to have a break where I didn't have anything I had to do or a plan to stick to. I had a good time and it was nice to come home to kids who missed me.
One of the things I haven't recorded yet is that Diego has been counting lately. It's pretty amazing he can count already. He's relatively accurate although on occasion he just throw out random numbers. Today when I got home he was counting with his daddy. This video was perfect as I was videoing him counting I also got him kissing Manny. What a nice and gentle little boy. Isn't he an angel?

Balloon animals

I took the kids to visit Jeana and Christian at work today. While in Seaport Village we saw the balloon artist and of course had to stop to have some made. Callie chose the little mermaid and Diego a spider. Callies was pretty awesome but Diegos spider was a little difficult to decipher as the legs curled under and it looked more like a ball of balls. I think a few random balloons twisted together with longs legs would have been more realistic but hey give the guy some credit.
