Mad Hatter Tea Party

On GiJus last day in CA we made impromptu plans. When we didn't have a plan we discovered that the local library was throwing a mad hatter tea party so we went! We had no idea what it would be like but the kids had a blast. We made paper bag hats and decorated them with all sorts of stuff. They had bean bag toss, musical chairs, photobooth, croquet, pin the mouth on the Cheshire Cat, and balloons made by the mad hatter. We had fun there and we visited two playgrounds in the same day. To say I'm exhausted tonight is an understatement. Callie has become a master of climbing all the jungle gyms at the park and D is getting quite brave himself. Callie keeps asking for her own playground so that's on our wish list this year. We had so much fun with GiJu that it's going to be hard to say goodbye so soon. But the next visit is only a month away. :)

We got worms

The garden which I still need to write about got worms today. I'll hold off on the construction and telling you all about the garden for another day. Today was about worms. We bought red wiggler worms for the garden and built a worm tube for composting and feeding the worms right in the garden. Callie and D finally got over their fear of worms and held them in their hands. Callie insisted we wash the dirt off them first so she could see them. Once cleaned off though both kids were willing to hold them. We put 300 in my little organic garden and I'm hoping they stay alive and do their job.

Diego is really starting to put together words and phrases and today he topped it all off after dinner when he spilled ice cream on his shirt by saying "what happened me"? It was too cute and he repeated it more than once. Poor guy didn't like ice cream on his shirt.

Do you know how hard it is to get a good photo of these two? I got a lot of them but none where everyone is smiling. Go figure.

Happy Birthday Mia

Happy 11th Birthday to Mia. She has the best birthday parties and my kids just love it there. Callie likes to hang out with the big kids and D just runs around and dances like a ham. We stayed all afternoon and the kids had a blast but are worn out. Even with all the candy they were quickly off to bed.

Butterfly garden

We went to the wild animal park to see the butterfly garden that only comes in the spring. It was a delight. None landed on the kids but GiJu got one right on the front of her jacket. Even better than the butterflies are the lorikeets where the birds perch right on your arm and eat out of a cup. We had a blast feeding the animals, even the goats.

New toys in the bath

GiJu has arrived! Each kid got a new bath toy. Callie got a bathing suit Barbie baby and D got an octonaut. Hooray for bath time, hooray for GiJu and hooray for the start of my two week spring break!

Sowing seeds

Callie and I are working on a garden. I'm so excited about it and she seems pretty excited too. We bought some plants but also bought some seeds. To get the seeds started into little plants before we move them in the garden we are starting them inside. Here is Callie sowing the seeds in each individual peat disc.
