Shingles it is...

So I officially have shingles. I saw my dr today who confirmed it is indeed shingles. She was concerned over my stress levels and even offered me counseling. I assured her that really I am not so stressed but with the last two weeks its been a lot and I was sick the week before that. There is not much they can do for me at this stage as antiviral medications only work well in the beginning. Considering its not too terrible I turned down taking medication that won't make a difference anyways. She offered me pain patches as well but I don't think I will be using those either. It does hurt somewhat now,but its on and off and generally it's still itchy more than painful. I have also been cleared to return to work tomorrow as it is only contagious if you touch the blisters while they are open. My rash has very minor blisters and they are all closed AND more importantly I wear clothes to work all day and no one touches my back so I am officially not contagious. I enjoyed my extra time home with Callie and will be sad to drop her off in the am tomorrow.
On the upside I get to go on my trip to Napa this weekend still and hopefully I can destress there. Also in my sick leave time I helped myself destress by installing a permanent outdoor baby gate on the deck. Now Callie can play safely on the deck with a permanent gate that is screwed in securely. And I can sleep more soundly and not worry about Callie falling down the stairs again.  Here she is checking out the new gate. Manny doesn't love it either since now he has to go around through the dog door.

Callie's dancing clips

Callie has some pretty awesome dance moves. I don't always capture them as she tends to get shy when she knows I am recording her. But tonight she was really in dance mode and so I put together a few of the best clips if her dancing in her pjs.
I see hula dancing and some pretty funny dance recitals in her future...

Checking on the Noggin

Callie had her check up with the pediatrician today for her head. It was really just a formality more than anything, although it turned into an appointment for me sort of. Callie's head looks great no residual stitches, closed well and looking healthy. It still has a bruise as she keeps hitting her head on the floor, last time was yesterday. She is not helping the healing process. She has quite a bump under there so we will need to work on massaging it down once its healed a little more. Otherwise we are doing ok, the pediatrician hasn't called CPS yet considering the month we have had. I told her that and she laughed at me. Seriously though, Callie has had a rough two weeks with a dog bite, stitches, head CT, hepatitis A exposure, falling and hitting her head on the cement and bleeding with her stitches. It's been quite a bit of stress for me honestly. I know I tend to roll with the punches and ride the waves but still it frazzles the nerves. And with that being said I have this horribly itchy rash on my back that is getting worse. I asked the pediatrician to take a quick look while I was there and she is pretty sure it is shingles :( most likely stress induced. Now hopefully Callie doesn't get chicken pox from me! Sh has had the first half of e vaccine series so they think if she does it will be mild, butlers hope not at all!!! I am feeling fine besides itching but I am not allowed artwork because we have small and sick kids in my office. So I am off with Miss Callie for a few days or longer. It will be a nice break for me to spend time with Callie before my weekend away and a chance to rest and relax and just take life slowly. I go see my doctor Wednesday so they can actually diagnose and say when I can return to work. Until then I will enjoy my time home ;)
I am forcing Callie to wear a hat when we are outside to keep sun off her scar. I don't want to put sunscreen on it until it is completely healed but I want to keep the sun off it. Here she is in her bucket hat walking Manny this afternoon. How cute are they?!

Seaport Village

Somehow my post never actually published yessterday :( well on the bright side you get 2 today!

Yesterday we took Callie to Seaport Village for lunch and to visit Jeana. Callie loved all the kids, dogs, vendors, and things to see. We had the balloon guy make her her first balloon animal. He made her a dog but afterwards I saw a kid with Elmo! I should have asked for that. Oh well she still liked it.
She spent the night at her grandparents last night as Juan and I went out for a birthday party and stayed out last night, so today was about rest and recovery because I am too old for this stuff now! Jeez it's hard to recover from a night out when you ave to chase around a 1 yr old! You can also see that her scar is looking much better. Tomorrow we go in so the pediatrician can take a look and make sure everything is good. I think it's a waste of time but feel obligated to do the follow up.

Dancing queen

Callie is dancing all the time. It's hard to get her very cute dances on video as she often gets shy. Juan got this video of her this week. I love the twirl around and the pointing arm. She is a riot!

Also Tia Mari shared these photos of all the visitors Callie had this week. No wonder she doesn't want to nap at Grandmas house!! Too much fun!

BandAid?

Callie's steristrips fell off today! I wasn't really feeling ready yet but I think it's for the best. I went over to see her mid morning since I was already out of the office getting my Hepatitis A vaccine. For those of you that don't know, Callie and I have been eating frozen berries from Costco that are now known to be contaminated with Hep A, great right? Like I needed anything else this week. Anyways Callie was vaccinated in April so she should be fine and I got my vaccine today to cover me. So back to the scar. When the strips came off its looking ok. Not as good as I wanted but not too bad. I was hoping for a tight little line but after the fall and the bleeding the second day I should have known better. It's bruised, red, and not fully closed. I called the pediatrician, they must be tired of hearing from me by now, and told them. They said it is ok to put bacitracin and a bandaid to keep her from touching it. Well she tries to pull the bandaid off!! She didn't even have an afternoon nap today bc she was so busy with the bandaid! Oh Callie... She was exhausted tonight. It looks a little better tonight already then this morning. I am hopeful she will be a super healer and the scar will be smaller than this looks right now.
