Horsing Around

Thursday we took the kids to Barbara's house to ride horses and see the barn. The kids rode Johnny Walker and "jumped" over poles on the ground. They had such a good time. Barb even let them ride on the ATV. Let's see if they grow up to be horse kids after all.

PaPa's Boat

Today we went out on PaPa's boat and went to the beach. Callie thought it was great fun. Everything from riding on the boat, digging in the sand, collecting rocks, making sandcastles and mermaids, and a picnic lunch. We even caught some crabs off the dock when we got back. Diego cried for a majority of the trip but eventually settled down on the boat ride. He has been extra difficult the last few nights and we are both exhausted.
Besides the beach Callie has been swimming in the pool everyday and today even caught a June bug beetle to put in her bug cage.
Callie has been having so much fun but hasn't been napping well and has been waking up early because of Diego. We are all sleeping in the same room so Diego inevitably wakes everyone up at some point. Callie does well all night but then wakes up early. Hopefully we can catch up on some rest at some point.

Summer BBQ and Blueberry Picking

Sunday we had a big BBQ with all our friends and family to meet Diego and visit. I wanted to snap more photos of the day but I was torn in so many directions between crying Diego, swimming with Callie, and talking to friends that I only caught these few moments towards the end of the party. Callie had a blast with her friends Emma and Olivia. This was the first day that Callie has had no nap ver the course of an entire day. By the time she could have had a nap around 5 pm we figured it was just better to wait until bedtime and get her adjusted to CT time. She was so crabby at bedtime and just plain mean kicking and screaming her way to bed. Oh boy! But still we had such a fun day.

This morning GaGa, Ashley and Charleen came over for breakfast and Callie challenged everyone to a game of fishing. She always won ;)

Then today we took Callie blueberry picking in the morning for a little bit. She got to eat the berries right off the trees and walk through the fields of bushes. It was fun for a little bit, but gets boring to a 2 year old fast. We picked a big bucket full of blueberries in less than 30 minutes and I mostly just ate them.

Airport adventures

I'm going to apologize in advance that I will not likely be posting everyday.....I'm on vacation. That means I want to relax a little and might not get my posts up timely. I will still take photos and post them all eventually but bear with me if I'm a few days behind.
Yesterday we spent the whole day flying to CT. It was a looong day, but the kids did a great job. We made it nearly 12 hours with only 5 minutes of crying between two kids. Callie was difficult for a bit since it was way past her nap but manageable and Diego was mostly happy to be held, rocked and fed all day. I have to say it was rather impressive. Here's a few snippets from our long day.

Seaport Village

We went to visit Jeana at work today in Seaport Village. Callie was excited to have the balloon man make her a hat. Ill post some photos from my camera instead of my phone tomorrow and see if you can guess what it is. She was happy sitting with her Tio and Cousin Ford on the bench on a sunny afternoon.
She keeps asking if we are going to GiJu and PaPas house right now and when I say not yet she cries (fake complaining). Hopefully all he excitement will mean she is well behaved on the plane tomorrow. It's gonna be a long day.

Three Months Old

Diego is 3 months old today and embarking on an across country flight. I am hoping that it is a smooth quiet flight, but knowing my kids we wont be very quiet. At three months Diego still doesnt sleep well. The longest he has ever slept was 3 hours at a time, typically only 2, which means I am still one tired momma up at night feeding. He once went 4 hours without eating again but it was the afternoon and so we werent sleeping. I thought we might be getting somewhere on the time thing, but he has returned to his usual every two hour schedule. So much for any rest or sleep.
So what is Diego doing at 3 months? Diego can coo and oo and talk to you. He smiles and laughs a little bit. Mostly though he flinches when Callie gets close to his face as he knows the torture is coming and has no defenses to her. She means well but is way too rough and loud for his taste. I have not figured out all the things that bother Diego's belly yet but he sure is a sensitive one. The items I have kept out of m diet are nuts and dairy. I have tried adding dairy back in twice already but he seemed extra fussy those weeks. Don't get me wrong he cries a lot all the time about nothing and everything so it can be hard to tell. His reflux and puking have gotten much better and he sleeps laying flat on his back swaddled in his own bed (right next to mine), except for last night he cried so much I held him nearly all night
His hair is growing in, but its a funny comb over style. He loves his pacifier and his swaddle and without them I don't think he would ever sleep.
Here are some photos I snapped, in bad lighting :( I will try to get a few more good ones Sunday.
Callie had some nice photos yesterday in Seaport Village where she had this crazy balloon hat made. What a silly kid!
