Puppy love

I have said so many times that e digs just tolerate Callie but don't really love her, but I think I'm wrong. She definitely annoys them and can be overbearing and too rough but they still love her. LT lays outside her door at night while I put her to bed and comes with me first thing in the morning together her o of bed. She gets so excited to see him in he morning and is always asking aboutManny too. Manny is always more interested in food so he doesn't leave the kitchen until he has been fed.
Well today both dogs were laying in the sunshine that was shining through the deck door. It was a rainy morning and the sun was probably very warm compared to outside or the floor anywhere else. Callie went over to see them all loud and crazy like usual. I reminded her to be gentle and nice and so she said hug? Well how do you say no to that? A hug is gentle and nice so I said ok. LT just laid there and let her hug him and lay on him and never even moved. It was pretty incredible because he usually gets all jumpy and runs away before she could even get her hands around him. She did a good job being gentle and nice too. Look at those buddies, just warms my heart.
Also in our eventful day we made egg free French toast for the first time and it was surprisingly good. Callie loved it and ate 2 whole pieces. She loves cooking anything really and here she is again sitting on the counter helping with breakfast. She also made dessert for us tonight, coconut bars with chocolate topping. She loved helping but was eating along e way and made a BIG mess with the coconut everywhere. It took me longer to clean up the mess than make them. I try to remind myself it's not about the time things take but the fun and lessons learned. Speaking of lessons learned, Callie had her first real lesson today.i told her she was naughty, explained exactly what she did wrong, made her apologize and then made her clean up the mess. I left her with markers in the living room while I was at the sink washing dishes. I thought she was drawing on paper but I eventually saw she colored he top of the coffee table and the tray to her highchair with a purple marker A LOT! She really seemed to understand she wasn't to color there and said sorry and cleaned it all up. I did a good job (for once) not yelling or getting mad. I was perfectly calm when I explained why that was naughty and why we don't do that as well as explaining why she had to clean it up. Luckily it was a washable marker and it cleaned up very well.
Besides that she wanted to carry her backpack around today and kept talking about school. I really need to figure out the sole preschool thing soon as its so crowded their are often wait lists here in SD.
Tonight we brought dinner to Tio and Jeana's new house since I still hadn't seen it with all the renovations. Callie was so confused when we told her we were going to Tio's house. She kept saying mama house? I kept telling her it was a new house for Tio and Jeana but it didn't sink in until we got there. She loved running and exploring their new house and just being silly. We had a great time visiting them and seeing their new house. It will be even more fun when we have 3 little ones running around there!

Calllliiiieeeee Pig

Pepppppppaaaaaa Pig! We now say Caaaaalllllliiiieeeee Pig. If you have ever seen the show Peppa Pig you would understand I am singing the song. Anyways, Callie really is into this show even though I think its pretty terribly written and animated in British accents. Well today Callie opened a package from her great great Aunt Charleen and it contained a Valentine's Day present. It had a hooded piggie towel that Callie immediately named Peppa and just adored. She also got a farm book to go with it, but was so focused on the towel she couldn't read the book. She was wearing it around like a cape over her clothes for awhile and then we used it after her bath. What a fun and perfect gift. Charleen didn't even know she liked Peppa Pig or pigs either. Thanks Aunt Charl, love you.

Cream!

Last night I had no dinner prepared so I told cAllie we were going out to eat and what did she want. I have options like chicken, rice. She says, "cream!" That means ice cream. I couldn't help but laugh. I told her we had to eat real dinner first. We settled on Greek one of Callie's favorites but after walked to the grocery store and bought frozen yogurt ice cream sandwiches. Callie ate a whole sandwich even after all that dinner! Just like her mommy loves some ice cream. Just wait til we take her to Buttonwood this summer...

More blocks

Now that Callie has been feeling better I thought it was time to endeavor back to UFO (upholstery fabric outlet) to get the rest if the foam scraps we need. If you recall the last time we were on our way there when she thew up in the car. This time, much more successful! Callie was adorable, she knew what she wanted and we told the man. When he handed us the two giant bags of foam blocks Callie said thank you loud and clear. Then she tried to drag a bag that was bigger than her across the floor. We took them home and proceeded to open both bags and play with all the foam. We built a castle and a tower. Callie wanted to build a bed for her baby complete with pillow and blanket, all made of foam. She has quite the imagination :) I think it helps her mom is nuts....
We played for awhile then cleaned them all up. I don't know how happy she will be when it's time to turn them all into her reading nook pouf. I may have to keep a few out to play. Hopefully I can get this crash pad complete for her reading corner this weekend.
She ate a good dinner tonight of baked chicken and noodles with cauliflower alfredo sauce, nice and healthy, and not too bad I might add. Obviously it would have tasted better with butter and cream but hey it was so much healthier the way we ate it.

Happy Birthday Eliana! And belated to Jeana

Tonight we celebrated Eliana's actual birthday and Jeana's belated birthday. We had a big gourmet dinner and Callie devoured all the prime rib! Then cake and presents oh my! Callie just loves all these partys. Here she is playing with the birthday star balloon and yelling "arriba arriba"! She was a real ham. Happy Birthday to my two sisters and Callie's Tia's. We love you lots!!

Happy Super Bowl Sunday

We spent Super Bowl Sunday at the Chavez house with tons of food. Jason and Tammy came over with Kaitlyn. Kaitlyn is 4 months younger than Callie. She is finally big enough and mobile enough that her and Callie are at the same level. For a lo time Callie didn't enjoy playing with her because she crawled when Callie walked or she seemed like a baby to her, but now Kait can hold her own. They played all afternoon with the kitchen and toys. For the most part they shared well with the exception of the iPads. Callie was a little rough with the hugging as you can see in the photo, but Kait gave it back to her later. It's hard to get a photo of two active toddlers as their attention span is so short I couldn't get them to sit together for a minute together a good photo.these are the best I got. Callie enjoyed all the food, especially the new healthy cookies I made. I hoped she would like them. They are made with oats, applesauce, bananas, raisons, and sunflower butter (since Callie can't have nuts) and only 2 tablespoons of sugar in the whole batch. Healthy for a snack and Callie loved them. Kaitlyn knows better and didn't like the cookies as she could eat the real brownies. We stayed for the whole game and Callie went to bed late, but was well behaved the whole time. Happy Super Bowl!

Callie's First Train Ride

Yesterday we took Callie to the zoo for the afternoon. It was a cool day but it was really busy at the zoo. It amazes me how each time she seems to be drawn to a different animal. This time she really liked he cheetah and the camels. I know the cheetah love came from one of the more recent episodes of Doc McStuffins where they had a new cheetah toy and talked about her spots and how she is different than the other toys. The camel interest I am not too sure really. We do read a book about the zoo sending animals and they send back the camel because he is too grumpy, maybe it's from that. Regardless its kinda nice so that we spend time seeing different animals each time. She always likes the monkeys, but that's because they move a lot more than the other animals, plus she calls them all George :)
Juan did all the lifting to see the animals since its harder for me now being pregnant, which gave me the opportunity to take some photos on my real camera. I only snapped a few but they tell the story of the day quite well.
On the way out we took her on the Balboa mini train, which we never knew existed until this week. It's a little tiny train that doesn't go too far, it's a 3 minute ride total, but it was perfect for Callie. She loved the train nd even the tunnel, which is surprising because she is afraid of the dark these days and always asking for lights and says dark dark when its too dark for her.
All in all a fun filled day. We were all exhausted from walking around. Callie slept in this morning until 7:45!!! She was up 4 times last nigh because she still has a runny nose. Ill try to video herbs cause its hysterical but every time you wipe he nose she says "there, better", I guess I say that a lot, lol. It is adorable either way.
