First Cold :(

Callie got her first cold before she is even 1 month old. Poor girl can't catch a break with all her ailments. She has been really congested, sneezing and coughing since yesterday. Not much you can do for an infant with a cold. The pediatrician recommended using a humidifier, saline spray and nasal aspirator.
Well what do you know we have a crazy NoseFrida the snot sucker! I think it was time to take it out. If you haven't seen this before here is a photo of what it looks like. You put it up to the baby's nostril then suck through the tube with your mouth to get the boogers out. Gross you say? Well there is a little booger stopping screen so you won't get boogers in your mouth. It works really well so I have to give it an A+, much better than a typical bulb aspirator.
Sorry no photos of it in action, it takes all my hands and body to wrangle her down to suck the boogies out.
So poor Callie is toughing out her first cold with lots of love and snuggling from mommy. Hopefully she feels better soon :( with nosefrida's help we at least can breathe a little easier.
And just for fun here is a photo of Manny with Callie right after the snot sucking. He seemed confused what was going on but stayed right near her even through the crying. He is getting used to her sounds finally.

Curly hair?

After bathtime Callie always has really curly hair. It doesn't stay curly just kinda wavy crazy but I thought you have to see it to believe it! She is finally enjoying bathtime more and isn't crying anymore.
Here she is with towel dried hair just after her bath today.

When daddy dresses Callie

Daddy was on charge of getting Callie ready for bed last night while I tried unsuccessfully to take a nap. Of course daddy chose the chargers jammies. Here she is and I think she is already practicing her touchdown signals!

No rest for the weary

Callie still has a hard time sleeping almost anywhere except right on top of your chest. The problem is you can't do anything else while she is sleeping! I am still working on the bassinet but she is not a fan. I get 15 min tops in the bassinet or 2 full hrs if you let her sleep on your chest. All this time lying with her sleeping results in no more sleep for me but a whole lot of Internet shopping on my iPad. :)
You tell me where she looks more comfortable. When yours ears need a rest you just can't bare to move her from your chest, ha ha that rhymed.

Visiting the boss

My boss really wanted to meet Callie so we made a trip to her office at the end of the usual monthly meeting we have for the branch office supervisors. We had a really rough night of Callie screaming uncontrollably for hours on end so I was exhausted! Of course because she cried all night she was finally tired and slept the whole trip out. I'm describing how she keeps me up and we are having a hard time; telling her I'm not sure if my original plan of 30 hrs after 6 weeks off will work out.. Meanwhile Callie is sleeping away peacefully and she says "surrrreeee she cries". No, she was really understanding and told me to take the time I need and just keep her posted. Here Callie is with my boss Anne. I told her she will cherish this photo because I am one of 8 maternity leaves she has this year which are stressing her out right before her retirement, he he. A memory of all the paperwork and stress she had trying to find coverage for all of us.

Making Friends

Callie and I had a lunch date with my friend Doris and her baby girl, Isla. Callie enjoyed the walk but then showed off her fussiness to Isla. Isla just watched her. Here they are together. We hope they will grow up and be friends together since they are only 2 months apart in age. Thanks for lunch and a good time today, it's always good to get out of the house :)
