Sleeping like a baby...
The medicine is starting to work! Callie seems to be doing better already with less vomiting and more sleeping! She has been crying less as well. We still notice her reflux and can feel it when holding and burping her but it doesn't cause her to projectile vomit. Here are a few photos I took of her sleeping, in places where she wouldn't sleep before, even sleeping during burping! She slept through most of the night last night too. Hopefully it keeps getting even better so we have a good update for the pediatrician Monday.

Doctors orders vs Mommy's sanity
The doctor has been giving us a hard time about letting her sleep in our bed and continues to warn us about the risks. While we are well aware that she should be sleeping in her bassinet and away from any people, pillows, blankets, etc when you are so sleep deprived and Callie has been crying all day and night you let her sleep anywhere she darn well will sleep. Usually that means in bed curled up at Mommy's side, but that also means propped on her side in the bassinet during Mommy's shower and on a comfy blanket on the couch sitting with mom. We will be working on moving her back to her bassinet, but for now Mom's sanity is winning in the battle vs doctors orders. Plus look how happy she is sleeping in these places...
Nazzaro Visits
Sunday the Nazzaro's came to visit Callie. They are my little piece of family from home in my new home. Ed was friends with my parents in high school and college and I have photos of him holding me as a newborn. We grew up with his kids and they have been so close to us for many years, so to me they are my family. In January when I was back east I got to visit his daughter Sara and hold his new grandbaby Olivia when she was just 10 days old! It was great to have them come visit us while they are still living in San Diego for the time being. I will see if I can find a photo of Ed holding me as a baby to post up here with Callie's. Thanks for coming to visit us Ed and Sharon!

Daddy and Callie
Something about Daddy is very calming for Callie. She will cry for hours with me and not sleep and when I hand her over to dad when he gets home from work she just passes out on his chest. It's very cute. I think she is becoming a daddy's girl already! Here is a photo I snapped of them early in the morning sleeping together. Now we just need her to sleep more often and for longer, if only dad could hold her all day and night....

Doctors and drugs
Today was a day full of doctors and drugs. In the morning Callie and I took Manny back to the vet to discuss his test results. He has very low thyroid hormone levels and elevated liver enzymes, any of which could have caused his seizure. So today he starts a drug regimen of thyroid hormone and liver regulating drugs as well as a special prescription diet. We will try this for a month then recheck all his blood levels and see how he is doing.
After I left the vet I called and left a message for the pediatrician as Callie has been projectile vomiting milk and crying after eating for the past week. She is having a hard time sleeping and we can't lay her down without her puking. She also stays up all night crying and no matter what we do we can't seem to console her. The dr wanted to see her right away so we regrouped and drove off to see the pediatrician. Dr Houkum believes Callie has moderate reflux and recommended on top of the conservative treatments we already are trying such as keeping her upright, burping more, feeding less but more frequently, etc, that we give her Zantac a medicine typically used for heartburn. So today Callie started her drugs too and now we have a daily drug regimen for the dog and the baby twice a day. Callie needs 2 weeks to recover from her reflux and Manny may take up to a month to regulate his levels. So our house is full of sick babies. We are trying to keep Callie as happy as possible until the medicine kicks in but she is a pretty miserable little girl these days, and hence why I am up in the middle of the night on my phone writing this blog. Hopefully she feels better soon because it's a terrible feeling as a parent that you can't make your baby feel better. I need parent superpowers to heal her fast, but since I don't she will have to settle for all the love and snuggling my arms can give as far as comfort.

Baby Wearing Take 2
We are still practicing our baby wearing when Callie is really fussy to calm her down. Yesterday I tried my Maya wrap which is a ring sling. While it worked almost equally as good it was not as comfortable to wear for long periods of time since it only goes over one shoulder and my back hurt after less than an hour wearing it. It's a little faster to get on but overall I prefer my homemade wrap still. Next up I sew my deluxe version.
Sushi!!
This post is all about me!! Tonight I had sushi for dinner for the first time in 10 months. Boy did I miss it. Excellent rainbow roll. Now I'm just waiting until we are bottle feeding and I can have a margarita, you all will be sure to hear about that one!
