Snow Day!

Callie must have been excited for the chance to have a snow day as she woke up before 5 am today! I really think she woke up because she could hear Grandpa shoveling the steps out front, but hey snow day excitement it is.
I wanted to take her out in the snow before it started to rain, so we went out at 6:30 am in the dark! Callie likes the snow but not the freezing rain falling or the cold. We brought some snow in and let her play with it. She was happy to use her utensils, but not her hands as it was too cold.

I wanted to take her on a least one sled trip down the hill, but I tried first myself and it was not good sledding snow, so we gave up and went back in. Here she is with the snow. Her very first real snow experience. :)

You might also notice from the indoor snow photos that she has a bump/bruise on her forehead. Yesterday in her attempts to be oh so independent with her walking skills she tripped on the lip that separates the kitchen floor from the foyer tile and fell hitting her head on the tile. It left quite a knot and bruise. Poor baby :( I am sure it will be the first of many injuries now that she is exploring all on her own.
