Stormy weather

Go figure the day we fly home we have stormy weather on Chicago where we had our layover. We packed up and left my parents by 3:30 am for a 5:15 flight. We left on time and headed to Chicago, but then a strong lightening and rain storm came and we couldn't land. We circled and circled and flew away and back for an hour. Poor Callie who gets car sick was puking from the bumpy and circling ride (I can't blame her even I was feeling a bit nauseous). After spending an extra hour on the first plane and with a big storm I figured the next flight would be equally delayed so we would have time to catch our breath in the airport... Wrong! We walked quickly to another terminal and got right on the next plane... Only to sit on that plane for a long time without flying. First we waited for luggage they were transferring from another plane. Then we sat on the runway for an hour before we could take off! 2 extra hours sitting on a plane with two kids is not any fun. They were relatively well behaved considerin all the craziness and we made it home. I'm just exhausted now and hoping for a good nights sleep for everyone in their own comfy beds at home sweet home.
Diego was sleeping in the toddler bed at my parents so I changed his crib to a toddler bed at home too since he was doing just fine with it. I figure keep the smooth transition. I think the hurt foot kept him in at first but hopefully he likes it just as much and stays in bed.

Last day in CT

The last day in CT brought a rainy morning. Not too bad but still rain. We didn't mind and went swimming at Beach Pond even in the cloudy weather with no sun. We swam all the way out to the floating dock at Miki and Bobs house and the kids had fun "jumping" off the dock. Callie actually jumped once and went under completely and she stopped after that. Instead I helped lower them in off the side to keep them from going under. We sat on the neighbors boat and pretended to drive it and enjoyed watching people drive around their boats and even saw some water skiers. Everyone is very tired. A long vacation with lots to do will do that to you. I'm ready to go home and so is Diego. Callie on the other hand would stay forever. Both kids were crabby today which I know is just sheer exhaustion. I went with an early bedtime which caused a lot of tears as our plane leaves to go home at 5:15 am! That means we will be leaving the house at 3:30. Yikes better get some sleep and hope everyone behaves on the plane. It's been fun Ct. Until next time...

Happy 4th of July

Diego is walking on his foot again! It took a whole week and in the last couple days he's gotten brave enough to walk a little bit. He still isn't walking normally and has a little limp but it's a huge improvement at least.
For the 4th of July we went swimming with Jon. Stopped to feed the horses at Peggy's house and had a pizza party with the grandparents and my aunts and uncles. We even did fireworks as promised for Callie.
Diego wasn't too impressed by the fireworks. His favorite thing was playing sneak attack with Uncle Eddie where he crouches and walks over quietly to sneak up on Eddie and then tackle him. He must have done this 20 times and would have kept going if we hadn't stopped him.
Happy 4th of July I hope you all enjoyed the freedom we have.

Car trips

I was ambitious and drove to MA to visit my college friend Blair and his new baby. The kids were good in the car watching movies and napping but it was a long trip for such a short visit. We had fun visiting them and meeting Baby Michael.
In the evening we went to GaGa house for dinner and then tried our hands at fishing. Callie caught her first fish by herself and I got it on video. She's been fishing before but with a lot of help. This time she caught it and reeled it in all alone. She almost hit herself in the face with the fish! We set it free after looking at it for a few minutes.
In other news it's Juan and my 6th wedding anniversary. Sending lots of love from afar, we will celebrate when we get back home.

Yard sales, berries and BBQ

We had a busy day! We went yard saleing for one last time. Callie wanted blue high heels and saw some that were a dollar so I let her buy them to play in at home. She's such a girl.
Then we went berry picking for blueberries and raspberries. Diego ate handfuls of blueberries right off the bush. I tried to get a good shot of everyone together but that's harder than you might think!
In the afternoon we went to a BBQ for Fourth of July at my friend Danielle's. Callie had a blast with the kids running around. Diego mostly say and played with trucks. His boot arrived today and he's able to walk around a tiny bit with help in the boot, but it's still not that easy. We didn't stay all the way to the fireworks since it gets dark so late. We had a blast but I'm tired!
I think my photos are all out of order but it's the best I could do while tired. I also threw in some late photos of the tractor rides from the other night.

Beach, tractors and Blueberries

We met my high school friend Danielle and her son John at the beach today. We had good timing as he afternoon brought clouds and rain and we just got the sun. Callie has become quite the brave swimmer even out in the ocean over her head as long as she has her swimmies. Diego didn't like the cold water in the ocean and was ready to leave once we arrived. It's hard to be at the beach when you can't stand or walk, poor little guy. We still had fun and it's my oldest friends that I miss the most.
After nap time we rode the tractor, picked wild blueberries and Callie learned to open and close the gate. Diego loves the blueberries even if somewhat sour and Callie couldn't be more proud that she can open the gate by herself.
