Callie loves to have Diego in her bed when she wakes up from her nap. I usually let her since this is her calmest time and she lays and talks to him. Today she was sharing all her stuffed animals and explaining to him what each was. She was sharing and surrounding him with her animals. It was too cute. Then tonight when he was having tummy time she wanted to be right on the floor with him again. Already buddies and it's only going to get better once Diego can actually play with her.

Playtime
Callie loves to play with her brother. I'm still teaching her things she can do that are safe and gentle but she's starting to get the hang of it.
Today Callie made it all day at school using the potty with no accidents. It's the first successful day. So tonight we took her out for frozen yogurt as a special treat.

Independence Day weekend comes to a close
We ended our long holiday weekend with a beach party BBQ with friends. Juan's friends and their wives and kids all met at Mission Beach for a BBQ and to hang out for the day. We arrived early at 9 am to get a good spot and get set up. Packing for two little kids at the beach turns out to be a lot of stuff! We had a front row parking space but it still took 3 trips. This was Diego's first trip to the beach too. Callie had the time of her life playing with her friends and swimming in the ocean. She wore a puddle jumper and was swimming by herself in water deeper than she could touch. She hasn't figured out how to maneuver herself in one direction and was more floating in the tide but she was still cute. Sun and sand wore us all out though and tonight I was too tired to get the photos of my real camera. So for today I leave you with this tired photo of Callie on the car ride home. Tomorrow I will get all the other photos together.

Happy 4th of July
Fourth of July is a much quieter holiday with two little kids. We much prefer to keep it calm and comfortable with family. We had a BBQ at the Chavez house with just the immediate family. Callie and Grandpa played on the slide and in the pool for hours on end. Then they played outback on her motorized car too. Otherwise our time was spent attending to babies and their constant needs. Diego was much calmer and better behaved today thankfully. Here's some photos oft the kids today. And now as I write thi the fireworks are going off downtown, but we can't see them from here. Happy4th! Hope you all had a good day.

Happy 4 year anniversary
Today is Juan and my fourth wedding anniversary. It's incredible how time flies and how different our life is today than then. Unfortunately the kids apparently don't know it's our anniversary and both of them acted up more than usual. Diego cried most of the afternoon and evening from 1-8 pm. Callie threw temper tantrums all afternoon about the most ridiculous things and refused to eat any dinner. I would say it was one of our most challenging days to date with these two kids. All we could do was look at each other and laugh it was so ridiculous. At least we have each other, but boy what a day.
I'll leave you with Callie school portraits which we picked up yesterday. She wants to give photos to everyone, so you will likely be getting one next time you see her. And just for fun a photo from our wedding, it's throw back Thursday after all.

Two Months Old and Two Years Old
Diego is two months old today. It's been an interesting and busy two months and not as quiet as I had imagined, but the adventure is still fun. Luckily he is darn cute because he sure can be noisy and crabby. He's growing bigger everyday and we all are learning to function as a family of four. Callie is learning to be a gentle loving and helpful big sister, although we still have a way to go. I am learning to divide my attention and keep two kids happy. Some people say this is like juggling, I say it's like spinning plates. You just try to keep all the plates spinning but when there are too many things to manage you let the least important plate drop and you can pick up the pieces later. That's how I figure my life works these days. Someone is always crying and needs me, but I just have to attend to what's most urgent first. Anyways, it's not always bad, it's just really busy.
Back to updates..
Diego- Can smile when you talk to him, coos back at you, can open and close his hands and bats at toys. He weighs over twelve pounds and wears size 3 month clothes and moved up to size 2 diapers. He sleeps in 2 hour bouts because he is always hungry. The longest he has ever slept is 3 hours and so that means that's the longest I slept in 2 months as well. Diego likes to sleep sitting up as he still has reflux and pukes if you lay him down, however this has improved with my dairy free diet.
Callie- At 2 years and 2 months she is now pretty close to potty trained. She wears underpants all day at home with less than one accident a day. Tomorrow will be her first day at school in underpants which could be harder as she gets distracted. I sewed her some underwear with extra absorbent lining and a waterproof layer. It won't be accident free but hopefully if she tinkles a little she won't need a huge clean up by school staff just a change of underpants and maybe pants. Today she peed in the potty at the park, her school, target, and the restaurant at dinner AND she pooped in the potty at home without any help! I'm so proud of her. She is still really young to be potty trained but I'm convinced by next week we will be there outside of sleeping times.
I snapped photos of the kids together and separate today. Turns out it's pretty hard to get two small kids to look good at the same time, who knew? I also threw in one I snapped on my cell phone of Diego's smile and a few left from the weekend I forgot to share.
Happy Two Months Diego!
