PaPa Ed arrives

Callie was so excited for PaPa Ed to arrive. She got to drive to the airport to pick him up and then since we drive right by the water park we stopped to play. When we got home she proceeded to show him all her toys and play in the play kitchen for hours. She was so thrilled to play with him she didn't even care that I left the house unexpectedly. I went to urgent care as I now also have a skin infection on my belly that looks similar to Callie and hurts a lot. So now I am on 2 antibiotics for 10 days as well... Oh sigh. At least PaPa is here and we are going to have some fun!

Diego's first photo book

Callie has volumes of photo books from her first two years so I thought it was time for Diegos first.

Callie has a check up today for her infection and her doctor says she is doing really well and it should clear up in about a week. It was great news!

Tomorrow PaPa Ed arrives from CT, in Callie's words, "yippeeeee"!

Water Fun

Callie was asking to go to the water park with her daddy for awhile. I've always only been during the week so it's just me. It was super packed and we barely found a parking space, we waited for 15 min for someone to leave. Anyways once we got there we had a great time. Callie loved playing with her dad in the water as he splashes and plays in the fountains more than me. Diego slept the whole time. After we tried to go to Bluewater our favorite seafood restaurant but there was no parking spots and a long line so we went home. Callie was so upset there were no parking spaces she cried about it. She fell asleep in the at for 15 min then when we got home kept crying about no parking spot and never napped again. She was surprisingly well behaved for no nap and has been doing great still using the potty. Hopefully in a few weeks we will be diaper free for one child! Happy Sunday!

Potty time

I started Callie on serious potty training on the recommendation of our pediatrician starting Thursday. Callie has a staph infection on the back of her shoulder and the dr says it's most likely to spread or show up recurring in the diaper area because of the moist dirty environment. So the best thing we can do for her is get her potty trained ASAP and in underwear and dry. She's on antibiotics and has a special cream and she's being so tough about it. Hopefully we can get it cleared up and she has no recurrences even though there is a real strong possibility it will show up again. She has been really successful with the potty! I am so proud of her. Yesterday I brought her to walmart and let her pick out a toy because she made it all day using only underpants with no accidents! She even went to Walmart in her underwear with no accidents! She picked out this great big doll house.
Meanwhile Diego was fussy all week and not sleeping well at night. This week I had introduced dairy again and as much as I didn't want it to be true I can finally conclude dairy Definately bothers him. I removed it all again a few days ago and he is back to happy sleeping Diego today. This photo is of him at 5 am Thursday happily sleeping in my bed after we had been up for hours Wednesday night. It was killing me since I had I go to work and now he wants to sleep, go figure.
And tonight I am home alone with both kids as Juan took his dad to the padres game for Father's Day. I was nervous it was going to be a chaos perfect storm of crying but believe it or not we had NO crying (except washing Callie's wound which is expected). Diego was asleep or happily awake watching Callie and I play. Callie was gentle and loving to him. We called GaGa to wish her happy birthday. I made dinner, ate, cleaned up, emptied the dishwasher, fed the dogs, gave Callie a bath, read books for bedtime all with two kids and no meltdowns. I swear it's like someone miraculously swapped my kids out today Rachael usually everyone is crying by 7 pm. I feel a little bit like super mom! Now wish me luck for the rest of the night.

Time Out

Callie got her first bad report from school today. When I picked her up the teacher said she had time out for hitting another girl. She also hugged her like a tackle and the girl hit her head. Oh boy... Now I have a kid who hurts her own brother and now her friends at school. We had a talk about being nice and not hitting and now I hope for the best for tomorrow.
Diego had a visit from Tia Mari while I was at work and was an angel.
We had family dinner at the Chavez house and Callie got to hold both boys. The three amigos! Now I need her to play nice with everyone else.

Two face

I was home with both kids today and the morning was amazing. Both kids behaved well. Diego took a morning nap so I could paint and spend some time with Callie. Then we all went to the library and to feed the ducks. The baby ducks were out with their mom again and were being protected by her constantly. Unfortunately there were only 4 now when there were 5 last time we came. When we got home we had a calm lunch time. I put Callie down for her nap then was ready for my own nap. That's when Diego decided to take a turn to psycho. He cried for an hour and a half uncontrollably no matter what I did. He then settled for a little while before returning to crazy screaming at bed time. I have no idea what flipped his switch from calm and easy baby to crazy boy but I hope it is over now so I can get some rest before work tomorrow.

Who misses who

I don't know who missed who more today. I missed my little guy being at work all day, reading my 686 emails I received while I was gone. 686 was lucky because some timed out as too old and I never got to read them. Diego spent his first day without me ever. In 6 weeks I've only left him for 1 hr or less besides my ER  visit for a few hours so he's only had two bottles in his lifetime before today. As soon as I walked in the door from work he was crying for mommy and wanting to nurse. Once we were home he went right back into crying until I would hold him and nurse him again even though it was obvious he wasn't hungry. After he finally settled himself he's snuggled himself into my chest and is sleeping ever since in the comfort of mommy's arms. Tomorrow I'll be home again so I can spend some quality time with both my kids. Diego will learn to adjust to the bottle and being without mommy and I'll adjust to being back at work. We both survived our first of many many more of these days.
Jeana took this photo of the boys happy together yesterday :) and I didn't take any photos today.
