Looks like mommy

Diego looks most like me. Callie was a little Juan as a baby and now Diego is my mini me. My mom sent me this photo of me from when I was born. Don't you agree we look alike?

Sleepless Nights

The last 2 days/nights have been really difficult. Diego hasn't been sleeping much at all, instead crying and uncomfortable all night even when held. He has been spitting up more and unable to sleep laying down. I can't quite put my finger on what it is that's bothering him but I'm guessing onions or peppers as I had fajitas two nights in a row. On top of that Callie has come down with a cold and has congestion and boogers like crazy. She cried throughout the night as she couldn't sleep well. I went down 3 times and Juan 6 times at least. So between Diego and Callie we haven't gotten much sleep at our house this weekend. I'm hoping we get some rest tonight as it's hard to keep up with this every night with a lack of sleep.
I keep saying its a good thing they are cute....

Zoo-venture

It felt like a Saturday today because both Juan and Christian had the day off from work. We all went to the zoo with the kids for a fun day out. This trip I had our new double stroller which made the trip much easier. I still carried Diego for a little while but he also slept in the stroller for awhile. Callie was well behaved and didn't fight about sharing since they each have their own seat. All in all a very successful trip. I also got my tooth fixed today, finally and while it wasn't fun I'm glad it's done. Callie used the potty successfully twice today on her own asking. And we topped off the day with dinner with Jeana and Christian. It's really nice to have sibling with kids now so we can do fun family friend, activities together :) love you guys!

LT and D

The dogs haven't taken too much interest in Diego so far. I think they are already immune to crying babies and now Callie can chase and touch them they are more worried about her than a baby that can't bother them. Today though LT jumped up on the bed to really examine Diego for the first time. He sniffed him and then decided he was ok.
Nicky also came by to visit Diego at lunch time. I haven't gotten any photos of Callie lately as when I have both kids my hands are too full to snap any photos!

Diego's first Mohawk

After Diego's bath today I played with his hair and gave him this cute little Mohawk. I thought it was just too cute. I snapped a few photos since Callie was still sleeping. It stayed this way almost the eat of the day once it had dried like this. I think it might be the haircut for him as he gets older. It's a lot cuter than the combover I usually give him ;)
He is beginning to play with his toys a lot more now and can bat and hit them pretty accurately. He also holds onto his giraffe wubbanub pacifier. He just loves that thing.

Burrito boy

Diego has been doing well at night still. I didn't want to share his sleeping in the dark photo like a burrito until he had a few good nights. One of these days when my room is clean I'll take a photo of our whole bed set up but maybe you can tell from this photo. Diego's crib is attached to my bed and his crib just has 3 sides to it. So he sleeps about 6" from my face to my side safely on his mattress. Usually by 4 am he makes it to my bed because I get too exhausted feeding him and fall asleep with him rather than put him back after feeding. Either way it's a way better set up then I had with Callie where I had to get out of bed to reach her, lift her over the side then into my bed. Lessons learned by baby 2.... Also he really likes the swaddling and he wants to wrapped right like a little burrito. Swaddle blankets don't work anymore as he wiggles his way loose but these straight jacket ones work wonders.
Also I have been working on getting the birth announcements out in the mail, should happen tomorrow. Callie decided she needed to make mail too and wrote on envelopes and told me what they said. She made this mail then delivered it to Diego in his pack n play. She cracks me up. What a creative little girl.
And lastly I took both kids to the library today. No photos as it was impossible to manage as is. That was a handful as I had to feed Diego and Callie was taking books off shelves and asking strangers if they want to see her baby while I was feeding him. After we went to see the ducks at the gold course but I didn't bring any bread. The giant goose was sassy and mad we didn't have bread and bit Callie's hand! She was petrified and then I had to carry 2 kids back to the car 150 yards. I think I got my workout in and I can't wait for my new double stroller to arrive Thursday. Why did I ever think Callie would be happy walking once Diego was carried. Off to bed hoping for dreams...sweet dreams. I don't dream much lately since I sleep in short bouts.

One Month Old

Diego is officially one month old today! It's been a busy crazy month. Having two kids is more work than I expected. Diego has his moments of difficulty and I haven't pinned down the exact issues but I'm getting to know him better. Last night he turned the corner and started doing better again. Less spitting up, sleeping much better and today a pretty happy little guy. My first assumption is a nut sensitivity or allergy. I ate pecans in a salad Friday and I'm thinking that caused his few days of misery.Nut allergies can be complex and he wasn't tested for pecans since it's a less common nut but Callie is allergic to them.
At one month he's learning to deal with the torture from his sister daily. While he's  not immune to how rough she is he is pretty tough. He eats every two hours like clockwork and loves his pacifier. He has lungs if steel and can scream with the best of them although he mostly just likes to complain and makes noises. Swaddling has become a nightly life saved as it calms even the most frantic nights.
I think he looks a lot like me as a baby. So looks like Callie looks like Juan and Diego like me ;)
There's not too much else to report at one month, just lots of snuggling and loving.
Jeana came over and took these amazing photos today of my handsome little guy and me and of course some with his best bud and cousin Ford. Couldn't have captured month one any better and of course Manny chose to pose too when he saw how comfy the pillows were.
